Does love mean Relationship?
--
The one thing that strikes in our mind on hearing the word “Relationship” is “when two people are in love”. Actually, love and relationship are one of the most commonly misunderstood concepts among people.
Love is the care and concern we have for others. If we feel pity on a starving dog on road and feed him, it’s your love on the doggie. If you water a dying plant, that can be brought alive when watered, it’s your love for the plant. When you phone your friend to make sure she had tablets when sick, it’s your love for your friend. When your mom calls you every night and asks if you have had dinner, its her love on you. Simply, you have love on people whom you really care about.
Now, let’s come to Relationship. A bond/connection between two people/thing is called relationship. You and your mother share some kind of relationship, you and your father share some kind of relationship, you and your brother/sister share some kind of relationship, you and your jogging partner share some kind of relationship, you and your professor/boss share some kind of relationship, you and your friend share some kind of relationship, you and your husband/wife share some kind of relationship. You maintain a relationship with all people you travel with, but all different.
Some relationships are just official, like student-professor relationship, employee-boss relationship, relationship with your colleagues, etc. Here, there is no space for love. You don’t literally care for your boss from the heart. But, in other relationships, your ‘love scale’ varies based on who the person is. You prioritize your relationships.
So it’s literally clear what love and relationship are. But here, I am confused how the term relationship always mean that two individuals are in love. I have just written my abstract thoughts on this. I didn’t mean to convey anything, but this could give the readers a different perspective on relationships.
